I'm taking a strategic break from painting; engaging with the photographic medium, refilling the bank and building momentum to create flow for my eventual return to the easel and print press.
This a Lo-Fi project with me as subject and viewer: observe, reflect, collect, ruminate, emote, see, be seen, project, transmit, engage, self-emptying, kenosis, transcend, transform...
“The artist’s path is that of a medium”. …“the artist’s path is close to that of an alchemist in that [her] path is that of a medium. [Her] vision belongs to an altering, of material, and of perception.”
…this “medium” refers to both the elemental material of the alchemist and the artist, but also the act of channeling, of housing otherness, by way of a self-emptying of “kenosis.” The artist is transformed along with the materials, elements, mediums of the work being undertaken, but this transformation is not ultimately a metamorphosis…but an act of transcendence. …to bring about transformation, transcendence of elements, of energy.” Transcendence sets elements and energy free and in turn the artist liberates and purifies [herself].”
